Website and waitlist
When you join the waitlist, we collect your email address, your consent choice, the signup form source, locale, and the time you joined.
We use this to manage the NotNow waitlist, send launch and beta invite emails, send later NotNow product updates or promotions, ask for feedback, and record that early testers are eligible for free lifetime access. The legal basis is your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing from an email or contacting us.
We use Brevo for email and contact-list storage, and Cloudflare for hosting, security, and no-cookie aggregate website analytics. They process data for us and may process data outside the European Economic Area using appropriate transfer safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.
In Brevo, we store your email address and NotNow-specific fields for source, signup form, consent time, waitlist status, locale, and beta lifetime-access eligibility. In Cloudflare, we store aggregate counts for page views and waitlist signups. We do not store analytics cookies, IP addresses, user agents, or cross-site identifiers in this analytics store. We do not sell this data.
We keep waitlist data while we use it for the purposes above, unless you unsubscribe, withdraw consent, or ask us to delete it.
Providing your email address is optional. If you do not provide it, you cannot join the waitlist. We do not use automated decision-making for the waitlist.
NotNow app summary
NotNow is a local-first reminder app for iPhone. It is designed so that your reminders, notes, saved places, screenshots, and reminder history stay on your device unless you choose to share specific information.
- NotNow does not require an account.
- NotNow does not sell your data.
- NotNow does not use your data for third-party advertising or tracking.
- Reminder content is stored locally on your device and is not sent to NotNow servers unless you explicitly choose to share it.
- Deterministic logic and on-device machine learning may help interpret reminders, suggest categories, detect dates or locations, and generate short reminder or notification text.
- NotNow does not use cloud AI for reminder interpretation or notification generation.
- Location access is optional and used only for location-based reminder triggers.
- Optional research sharing is off by default. If you turn it on, the app sends redacted diagnostics to NotNow services to improve reminder parsing and notification wording.
- NotNow uses TelemetryDeck for required privacy-friendly app usage analytics. These analytics are anonymized and are not linked to your name, email address, reminder text, notification text, exact location, or other directly identifiable information.
- If you rate a notification with a thumbs up or thumbs down action, NotNow sends redacted information about that one notification so we can improve notification wording.
- Raw images are never uploaded by the research sharing feature.
Data processed on your device
NotNow may process reminder titles, notes, dates, checklist items, categories, status, edit history, notification preferences, notification state, reminder resurfacing history, saved locations, location trigger settings, screenshots or shared content you import, text recognized from imported images, local diagnostics, app settings, and widget snapshots on your device.
This local processing is used to create reminders, organize them, schedule notifications, power widgets and Shortcuts, support the share extension, and help you review or export your own data. This data is not sent to NotNow servers unless you explicitly choose to share it through a support export, optional research sharing, or an opt-in beta diagnostics feature.
Location data
Location access is optional. If you enable it, NotNow uses location data to trigger reminders such as "when I get home" or "when I arrive at work."
Location data is used for reminder functionality on your device. Exact saved-place names, saved location identifiers, latitude, and longitude are not sent to NotNow servers and are not included in optional redacted research uploads.
Notifications, widgets, Shortcuts, and share extension
NotNow uses Apple system features to provide reminders and related controls. Notifications show reminders you created and may include actions such as marking a reminder done or asking to be notified again. Widgets show upcoming reminder information from local app data. App Intents and Shortcuts let you create or update reminders through Apple system surfaces. The share extension lets you import text, links, or images from other apps into NotNow.
These features use local app data and Apple platform services. NotNow does not require a NotNow account for them.
If you press and hold a notification and choose a thumbs up or thumbs down feedback action, NotNow sends your rating together with redacted information about that one notification. This can include the selected notification title or body after on-device redaction, template or style information, locale, app version, build, OS version, model or rule context, and anonymous per-event identifiers. The app redacts likely names, organizations, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, URLs, exact place labels, saved location IDs, latitude, and longitude before sending this feedback. Raw screenshots or image bytes are not included.
On-device intelligence
NotNow uses deterministic logic and on-device machine learning to interpret reminders, suggest categories, detect dates or locations, and generate short reminder or notification text. These features may use models provided by Apple, models bundled with the app, or models trained locally on your own device from your own app usage.
These intelligence features run on your device. NotNow does not use cloud AI for reminder interpretation or notification generation. If on-device intelligence is unavailable, NotNow keeps working with deterministic logic.
App usage analytics with TelemetryDeck
NotNow uses the privacy-friendly analytics service TelemetryDeck, provided by TelemetryDeck GmbH, Von-der-Tann-Str. 54, 86159 Augsburg, Germany, to understand app usage, reliability, and feature health. This app telemetry is part of NotNow and is not optional.
TelemetryDeck analytics are anonymized and are not linked to your name, email address, reminder text, notification text, exact location, or other directly identifiable information. NotNow does not use TelemetryDeck for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
TelemetryDeck may process an anonymized, untraceable per-install user ID, app-defined actions such as app launched or settings opened, rounded timestamps, device metadata such as system version, app version, and device type, and additional app metadata such as locale, build, feature state, or counts. NotNow does not send reminder content, notification content, saved place names, exact coordinates, email addresses, or support exports to TelemetryDeck.
TelemetryDeck does not store IP addresses, analytics cookies, tracking technologies, or persistent identifiers that can be traced back to individuals. More information is available at https://telemetrydeck.com/privacy and https://telemetrydeck.com/docs/guides/privacy-faq/.
Optional research sharing
NotNow can keep local diagnostics for up to 30 days so you can review or manually export them for support. These diagnostics help explain how a reminder was interpreted or how notification wording was selected.
Remote research sharing is optional and off by default. It only starts if you enable "Share data to help improve the app" in the app's Privacy settings and enable the relevant research stream.
When research sharing is enabled, NotNow may send redacted diagnostics such as redacted reminder input text, redacted parser output, redacted notification title or body candidates, selected notification wording, model availability or status, app version, build, OS version, locale, similar technical context, OCR or date-candidate counts, and anonymous per-event identifiers.
The app redacts likely names, organizations, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, URLs, exact place labels, saved location IDs, latitude, and longitude before upload. Research uploads do not include raw screenshots or image bytes.
Turning research sharing off stops future uploads and clears pending upload work. It does not affect reminder creation.
TestFlight or beta builds may include an explicit "Do not redact" research option for testing and development. This option is off by default, must be enabled separately, and warns that uploaded diagnostics may contain raw reminder text and other raw outputs. It is not part of the general App Store release unless stated in the app.
Manual exports and support
You may choose to export diagnostics or recovery information through the system share sheet. Manual exports can include more detailed local data than automatic redacted research uploads, depending on which export you choose.
Only share exports with NotNow support if you are comfortable with their contents. Store recovery exports may contain raw reminder data because they are designed to diagnose local store problems.
Remote services and processors
For the website and waitlist, NotNow uses Brevo for email and contact-list storage, and Cloudflare for hosting, security, and no-cookie aggregate website analytics.
For app usage analytics, NotNow uses TelemetryDeck, provided by TelemetryDeck GmbH in Germany. TelemetryDeck processes anonymized usage analytics for NotNow and does not receive reminder content, notification content, exact location data, or directly identifying account data from NotNow.
If you enable optional app research sharing, NotNow sends redacted research payloads to NotNow-operated backend services hosted on Google Cloud in the Netherlands. Google acts as a service provider or processor for this hosting infrastructure.
The research upload path uses Apple security features to reduce abuse. Users do not need to sign in to use the app.
Retention
- Waitlist data is kept while we use it for the purposes described above, unless you unsubscribe, withdraw consent, or ask us to delete it.
- Aggregate website analytics counts are kept for up to 400 days.
- Anonymized TelemetryDeck app usage analytics are kept only as long as needed to review app usage, reliability, and feature trends.
- Core reminder data stays on your device until you edit, delete, reset, or uninstall the app, subject to iOS storage and backup behavior.
- Local app diagnostics are automatically pruned after 30 days.
- Uploaded research payloads are retained remotely for 30 days only if you have opted in to send them.
- Temporary files waiting to be uploaded are deleted when no longer needed.
- Support exports are user-initiated; retention depends on where you send them and any support process agreed with NotNow.
Backups
NotNow stores core user data in the app group container so the app, widget, share extension, notification actions, and App Intents can work together. Core app data may be included in encrypted Apple device or iCloud backups depending on your iOS settings.
Temporary upload queue files and recovery exports created by NotNow are excluded from Apple backups where NotNow controls the file attributes.
Legal bases for processing
For GDPR purposes, NotNow relies on consent for the website waitlist, optional research uploads, marketing or product update emails, and optional permission-based features such as location access.
NotNow relies on performance of a contract to provide app features you request, such as creating reminders, scheduling notifications, showing widgets, handling share-extension imports, and maintaining required privacy-friendly app telemetry. NotNow relies on legitimate interests for local diagnostics, notification feedback you choose to send, security, abuse prevention, app usage analytics, and maintaining app reliability, balanced against the app's local-first design and privacy protections. NotNow may also process information where required by legal obligation.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including if you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you may have the right to access personal data NotNow processes about you, correct inaccurate data, delete data, restrict or object to certain processing, receive a portable copy of data you provided, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Because the app does not require accounts and stores most app data locally, much of your app data can be managed directly in the app or by deleting the app from your device. For data that NotNow services may hold, contact privacy [at] notnow-app [dot] com.
Children
NotNow is a general productivity app and is not currently directed to children or intended for use as a Kids Category app.
International transfers
Waitlist providers may process data outside the European Economic Area using appropriate transfer safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses. Optional app research data is hosted in the Netherlands. If support or operations later require access from outside your country or region, NotNow will use appropriate safeguards required by applicable data protection law.
Changes to this policy
NotNow may update this policy when the website, app features, data practices, or legal requirements change. The updated policy will show a new "Last updated" date.
